Coronavirus: parking permits for key workers

Permits for NHS staff, health and social care workers, and NHS volunteers

The government has introduced a coronavirus COVID-19 Parking Pass for NHS staff, health and social care workers and NHS volunteers. This is to enable them to access parking concessions whilst on duty, in local authority owned off street car parks and in a number of on street locations, during the coronavirus emergency response period.

Passes will be made available through your employer. They will be issued by the local trust. For NHS volunteers they will be issued by the Royal Voluntary Service, and for health and social care workers this will be the employing local council health and social care team or care provider. These passes are not issued by North Hertfordshire District Council.

You can find more details on how to obtain a coronavirus COVID-19 Parking Pass on GOV.UK

NHS staff, health and social care workers and NHS volunteers can find free parking locations by visiting www.nhs-freeparking.co.uk.

Permits for care workers

We recognise that care workers are critical to the coronavirus emergency response. To assist these workers in carrying out their duties, we will supply a COVID-19 Temporary Parking Permit.

This permit only applies while you are travelling to carry out your duties as a care worker. It does not apply when parking at your normal place of residence.

When displaying the COVID-19 Temporary Parking Permit you are permitted to park in the following locations:

  • resident permit bays

If the permit is not displayed correctly a Penalty Charge Notice may be issued. Full guidance will be issued with the permit.
