Every Mind Matters
Looking after your mental wellbeing is just as important as looking after your physical wellbeing, especially during coronavirus (COVID-19) when the nation is staying at home to protect the NHS and save lives.
The NHS Every Mind Matters website provides simple tips and advice for you to look after your mental wellbeing during this time, including a free online personal Mind Plan.
COVID-19: guidance on supporting children and young people’s mental health and wellbeing provides advice for parents and carers on looking after the mental health and wellbeing of children or young people during the coronavirus (COVID-19) outbreak.
Get NHS help at home
You should only leave your home if it's essential, unless you feel very unwell or you are told to attend an existing appointment for ongoing treatment.
While you are at home it's still easy to get NHS help using your smartphone, tablet or computer. The NHS Health at Home site gives information on how to contact your GP, order repeat prescriptions, manage long-term condition and maintain your mental and physical wellbeing.

North Herts Centre for Voluntary Services (NHCVS) are working together with Herts County Council to help let people know what they can do to practically support people in their communities, those who are self-isolating and those with health needs.
If you want to sign up to be a volunteer, please register your interest with Team Herts.
Compassionate Neighbours are trained volunteers offering social and emotional support to people who are elderly or frail and/or living with a life limiting condition and have been identified as socially isolated or lonely. They visit once a week for a cup of tea and a chat, offering friendship and a listening ear to those who need it the most. Volunteers will continue to support these people throughout the coronavirus outbreak, ensuring they operate within the restrictions and developing safe ways to offer social support.
Garden House Hospice (GHH) are also in the process of creating a pool of Compassionate Neighbour volunteers who can offer the following services to anyone in need:
- telephone befriending
- assistance with running errands such as shopping

Helping vulnerable people
If you are aware of a vulnerable person who needs assistance, please get in touch with HertsHelp as they can match up volunteers to people who need help.
Meals on wheels
If you know of residents who would benefit from a meals on wheels service, please get in touch with Herts Independent Living or call 0330 2000 103.

Citizens Advice North Herts have currently suspended face to face services, however you can still get advice by:
