Funding for energy efficiency improvements

Hertfordshire Warmer Homes

In the cold winter months, having a warm home is really important but for some there are very real concerns about the costs of heating our homes.

The Hertfordshire Warmer Homes scheme is here to help. Run in partnership by the District and Borough councils in Hertfordshire and Hertfordshire County Council, working with YES Energy Solutions, the scheme can provide free or discounted home energy improvements that will make your home easier and cheaper to heat. The scheme is funded by the energy companies who are required to promote energy efficiency measures with the aim of reducing carbon emissions and reducing the costs of heating a home.

The types of improvements that may be available include:

  •  Loft insulation
  •  Cavity wall insulation
  •  Solid wall insulation
  •  Boiler repairs

Advice can be offered on energy switching to try to find a lower tariff and other energy saving measures.

Generally, only owner occupiers and tenants in private rented housing are eligible and the scheme is targeted at households receiving certain benefits or those with low incomes. The Council has approved a Statement of Intent, which means that even more people will be eligible under the scheme.
