Can you help? We need independent people!

Could you make recommendations on allowances and expenses for our elected Councillors?

Could you help set special responsibility allowances for Councillors who chair specific meetings or are responsible for services to the community such as Waste and Recycling?

Can you be trusted by the public?

If you answered yes, we invite you to volunteer to join the Independent Remuneration Panel (IRP) who consider and advise on the level and type of allowances to be paid to Councillors.

The Panel meets on a virtual platform, when required, over the year.

Panel members each receive an allowance of £500 and are reimbursed for travel and subsistence (if applicable).

The Panel consists of three members of the public and the appointment is for a four-year term.

Members of the IRP cannot be an Officer of the Council, an elected member of any local authority or be disqualified from being an elected member of a local authority.
