Date set for Letchworth Environmental Action Day

Council Offices in Letchworth Garden City

PR Date: Tuesday, 3 March 2020 - 4:00pm

Organisations from the North Herts Community Safety Partnership are holding an Environmental Action Day in Letchworth on Friday 06 March, between 10.30am – 12.30pm. If you wish to attend, make your way to the Scout Hut on Icknield Way, Letchworth.

The main aim of the morning, organised by North Hertfordshire District Council (NHDC), is to engage with residents and help to improve feelings of community safety.

Representatives will be on hand from Hertfordshire Police, Herts Fire and Rescue, the DVLA (Driver and Vehicle Licensing Agency), the Letchworth Garden City Heritage Foundation, settle, First Garden Cities Homes (previously Howard Cottage Housing Association), and the Citizens Advice Bureau.

Cllr Judi Billing, NHDC’s Executive Member for Community Engagement said: “The Environmental Action Days are a great way to help address any early signs of crime and anti-social behaviour and prevent emerging issues from becoming more serious ones. We are inviting residents who live in the area to come along and raise any concerns they may have”

Neighbourhood Sergeant Stephen Oliphant added: “Multi agency events like these are a great way for us to meet local residents, discuss any crime issues or trends that may be emerging in their neighbourhood and share some valuable crime prevention advice on how to stay safe.

“By getting so many agencies together on one day we have created a one stop shop environment, allowing people to access lots of valuable information in just one visit.”

Sean Prendergast, Housing Officer at First Garden Cities Homes, said: “We are keen to work with partners to combat and address these types of issues, and environmental action days are a fantastic way of engaging with our residents and local communities”.

Claire Dawson, Neighbourhoods and Community Investment Manager at settle, said: “We’re really pleased to be working with residents and partners to support this Environmental Action Day. It is great to be working together to make improvements for our local neighbourhoods and communities.”
