Our parking payment machines offer different options for payment. You can:
- check in and check out, if you don’t know how long you'll be parked
- pre-pay with contactless payment or coins, if you know how long you'll be parked
Blue badge holders and season ticket holders do not need to use the parking machine – simply display your blue badge or season ticket in the windscreen.
Check in or check out at the payment machine
This is a useful option if you don’t know how long you will be parked and you want to pay with a contactless form of payment. We accept debit and credit cards/Google Pay/Apple Pay.
Checking in when you arrive
- Select Option 1
- Read the information screen and press green tick if you wish to proceed
- Tap card on card reader
- Enter your full vehicle registration and press green tick
- Tap card again on card reader
- “Check in complete” message will appear
- No ticket will be dispensed to display in windscreen – our Civil Enforcement Officers will be aware of your parking session
Only one vehicle registration to be entered per payment card.
Checking out when you leave
- Select Option 1 at a machine in the same car park where you checked in
- Press green tick on the information screen
- Tap card on card reader (must be same card you used to check in)
- Wait for ‘Check Out complete screen’ – you will be charged the tariff appropriate for the time between checking in and checking out
- If you require a receipt, press the green tick on ‘For Receipt’.
When you check in, the maximum tariff charge is reserved against your payment card as a ‘pending’ amount. Upon checking out, the charge for the number of hours that you have stayed is debited from your card and the pending amount is released. This can take 2 or 3 days to show on your account, depending on your card provider.
Don’t forget to check out using option 1 at end of your parking session or you will be automatically checked out at the end of maximum time for the car park and charged accordingly.
Pre-pay at payment machine with contactless payment
Choose this option if you know how long you'll be parked and you want to pay with a contactless form of payment. We accept debit and credit cards/Google Pay/Apple Pay.
Pre-pay with card
- Select Option 2
- Enter your full vehicle registration and press green tick
- Use ‘+Time’ button to increase duration (can reset to go back to minimum time)
- Press green tick to confirm your required duration
- Tap card on card reader
- Wait for the ‘Approved’ screen showing expiry date/time and vehicle registration
- If you require a receipt, press the green tick on ‘For Receipt’.
- No ticket will be dispensed to display in windscreen – our Civil Enforcement Officers will be aware of your parking session
Please do not attempt to ‘Check Out’ when you return to the car park, as to do so will start a ‘Check In/Check Out’ session for which you will be charged.
Pre-pay at payment machine with coins
Choose this option if you know how long you will be parked and you want to pay with coins.
Pre-pay with coins
- Select Option 3
- Enter your full vehicle registration and press green tick
- Insert coins
- Check expiry time/amount paid on screen and press green tick to confirm (red cross will return coins)
- Wait for the ‘Approved’ screen showing expiry date/time and vehicle registration
- Receipts are not available for coin payments
- No ticket will be dispensed to display in windscreen – our Civil Enforcement Officers will be aware of your parking session
Please do not attempt to ‘Check Out’ when you return to the car park, as to do so will start a ‘Check In/Check Out’ session for which you will be charged.
