Garden House Hospice and Tilehouse Counselling will each get around £500 as the council’s Chair, Cllr Val Bryant, comes to the end of her civic year.

Cllr Bryant ended her year in office with an event featuring live music from Electric Black and DJ Cllr Daniel Allen, in aid of her chosen charities at The Orange Tree in Baldock on Sunday, 22 May. Cllr Val Bryant said: “I have really enjoyed my year as Chair and I’m thrilled to have raised so much for my chosen charities.”

Garden House Hospice provides support, personalised and compassionate palliative end of life care for those in need following a diagnosis of a life limiting illness.

Tilehouse Counselling in Hitchin provides professional counselling including a confidential service for young people aged 13 to 18 and affordable counselling for adults with an income of under £40,000. There is currently a waiting list of over 70 young people.

The Chair of North Herts Council is similar to a ceremonial mayor. The Chair for the civic year 2022/23 will be announced this evening at full council.
