Recycle while in our parks

Recycling bin at Howard Park

You can now recycle on the go in our town centre parks of Howard Gardens in Letchworth, Bancroft in Hitchin, Avenue Park in Baldock, and Priory Memorial Gardens in Royston.

A total of 20 recycling litter bins – five at each site, all sporting the new council logo – have been installed throughout the parks. You can recycle cans, plastic bottles, paper and cardboard, and dispose of any other non-recyclable rubbish like takeaway boxes. Please note, you cannot recycle glass in these bins, please take it home to recycle.

Sarah Kingsley, Service Director for Place, which includes waste, greenspace and leisure, said: “We are delighted to introduce these new recycling bins to our parks across the district. We know most of our residents are passionate about recycling to help the environment, so it’s great they can now easily recycle their waste, including plastic bottles and drinks cans, while enjoying our parks.”

Please use the bins and if you’re out and about and can’t find one, please take your rubbish home with you – don't be a tosser! (Keep Britain Tidy anti-litter campaign). Remember bagged dog waste can also go into a normal litter bin.
