North Hertfordshire is an attractive area with a population of over 120,000 and subject to considerable pressure for growth and change. Much of the District is, however, still rural in character embracing parts of the Chilterns AONB, the East Anglian Heights and with the attractive towns of Hitchin, Royston, Baldock and world's first Garden City of Letchworth and villages set in beautiful countryside. The District Council has a reputation for securing the maximum benefit to the area from new development and in securing the highest quality development.
You will require a relevant Town Planning qualification with membership of the RTPI (or equivalent) and have a minimum of 3 years experience in development management. This post requires a driving licence and a car for working purposes.
Within Development Management you will be responsible for handling a varied caseload of predominantly major project planning applications (circa 50 dwellings+) as well as being responsible for providing pre-application advice, contributing to master planning, site visits, negotiations and the writing of delegated file notes or committee reports are involved.
You will need to be well organised with proven verbal, written and presentation skills and the ability to work to tight deadlines. You should also possess initiative and good interpersonal skills and be familiar with IT.
