Statement: public event concerns during coronavirus pandemic

Cllr Stears-Handscomb

PR Date: Thursday, 24 September 2020 - 4:30pm

"There’s currently a really difficult line to be drawn between keeping our local community as safe as possible from Covid-19 infection and still making sure that people have the opportunity to enjoy what is left of the summer and early autumn.

“We have seen on Facebook and Twitter this weekend that some North Herts residents are worried about the safety of some public events happening in our towns and villages.

“Local Labour and Liberal Democrat councillors who run North Hertfordshire District Council and our expert officers are working constantly with partners like the Business Improvement Districts (BIDs) and the police to ensure that every single event has been properly risk assessed and organised.

“If people see things which worry them they should certainly tell us so that we can investigate and take action at this time which is so worrying for all of us, our families and the people trying to keep us safe and well."

Councillor Martin Stears-Handscomb - Leader of North Hertfordshire District Council
