Statement on waste collection disruption

Waste Team

PR Date: Wednesday, 1 September 2021 - 3:30pm

Cllr Amy Allen, Executive Member for Recycling and Waste Management at North Herts Council said:

“I’d like to thank our bin crews for the professionalism and commitment they have demonstrated throughout the pandemic and for continuing to provide this essential service.

Due to a significant upturn in waste and recycling volumes, combined with a national driver shortage, our crews have been unable to complete all their rounds in recent weeks, with recycling and food waste collections being most affected.

Not having your bin collected as planned is frustrating and we’d like to apologise for the inconvenience this has caused. I assure you that we are working hard behind the scenes with Urbaser to manage this issue and ensure residents get the service they expect.

We do however expect there to be more disruption over the coming months so please bear with us.”
