As the economy starts to re-open, we’re here to support local businesses and encourage residents to take the next steps safely.

This summer North Herts has lots of events happening right on your doorstep, so why not meet up with friends and family and make the most of them!

Please remember it is still advised to take due care and to wear a mask on public transport, shops, visits to healthcare practitioners and in busy enclosed spaces.

What’s on in North Herts this summer


The Hitchin Festival – 23 July -1 August, Woodside Open Air Theatre.

Mostly Comedy – 23-24 July, Hitchin Town Hall. Comedians include Phil Cornwell, star of ‘Stella Street’ and ‘Dead Ringers’ and ‘Mock the Week’ star, Zoe Lyons.

Bucklesbury and Sun Street Festival – 24 July, from 12-6pm. Businesses will be opening their doors for fun, music and bargains! 

Hitchin Beach – 3-26 August, from 10am-4pm, Market Place. A huge sandpit will take centre stage with deckchairs and food and drink stalls surrounding it. 

Hermitage Road Day – 7 August. Enjoy street food, vintage cars, music and fun for all!

Craft Fair – 4 September, from 10am-2.30pm British School’s Museum, Queen Street.

Food and Drink Festival – 4-5 September. The festival is famed for its high quality, locally sourced street food and seasonal produce.


L.G.C Live – 24 July, from 11am-10pm. Live music and dance festival in the town centre. Talented local performers will be joining headliners, legendary British reggae group, Aswad. Entry is free.


Royston Kite Festival - 1 August, from 10.30am-4.30pm, Therfield Heath. Watch specialist kite flying teams and design, build and fly your own kite.

Royston Arts Festival – 24-25 August. The event will showcase local artists and musicians.


Baldock – 4 September, 5km Rat Run. Runners, joggers, or walkers can complete the 5Km course through beautiful Baldock and raise money for Garden House Hospice Care. There will be fun for everyone with bouncy castles, games, and raffles in the town.

Explore Markets in North Herts

Hitchin has a thriving market every Tuesday, Friday, Saturday and Sunday. The market is a great place to stock up on fresh food, essentials, treats and unusual items.

Baldock Charter Market takes place every Wednesday from 8am to 3.30pm in the High Street.

Royston Market is open every Wednesday and Saturday from 8am to 3.30pm.

Take a dip in the Lido!

The Lido in Letchworth and Hitchin’s outdoor pools are both open, check for hours and events.
