Have your say on new play options at Smithson’s Rec, Hitchin

Smithsons rec

Come along and have your say on a play consultation at Smithson’s Recreation Ground in Hitchin.

On Tuesday 14 June, 2-4pm, and Tuesday 26 July, 11am-1pm, staff from North Herts Council as well as contractors Groundwork Herts, will be on site to get views from users on the refurbishment. And there’s a free ice cream for every completed survey!

The current play area by Grays Lane is in need of renovation and currently mainly caters for younger children.

Councillor Steve Jarvis, Executive Member for Environment and Leisure, said: “We’d like local residents and potential users to give us their views to ensure we provide a new play area that children enjoy. We want to make the space a greener, brighter, safer, and more useable area for you to spend time outdoors.”

Groundwork added: “We are keen to get locals involved in the refurbishment plans of their park. Future possibilities could include catering to a wider age and ability range, improving the local ecology and climate resilience of the park while still providing a space for people to learn how to ride their bikes! Come and say hello, and tell us what you think.”

Update: Please complete a revised second survey by 12 August.
