Messages of thanks left out for binmen in North Herts

PR Date: Monday, 6 April 2020 - 1:00pm

Families are showing their support for the refuse and recycling collection crews who are still out collecting waste during the coronavirus outbreak, by placing messages of thanks in windows and on bins across North Herts.

North Herts District Council would like to pass on their thanks to the crews and to everyone who has taken the time to create lovely pictures and notes which are much appreciated. If you haven’t yet had the chance, why not give them a wave or a simple thumbs up to the crews when they drive past?

Some of the messages of thanks shared with us so far include:

“Thank you for doing what you can at this difficult time”
“I would just like to say a big thank you to all of our refuse collectors in North Herts for continuing to provide an essential service. Well done each and every one of them.”

Cllr Elizabeth Dennis-Harburg, NHDC’s Executive Member for Recycling and Waste said: said: “We are immensely proud of the professionalism and commitment demonstrated by the bin crews throughout this pandemic and it’s fantastic that their efforts are being recognised by the people of North Herts”.

To help keep our crews and your families safe, please remember to keep a distance of at least 2 metres, so that they can carry out collections safely. Wash your hands for 20 seconds before and after sorting waste or recycling and putting your bins out. Make sure you disinfect your bin handles and lids before and after each collection.

We’d love to see your pictures and notes. Please share them on social media – don’t forget to tag us @northhertsdc.
