General responsibilities for employees

The general responsibilities for all employees at North Herts Council are detailed below. They support the specific responsibilities outlined in the job profile document.

  1. Support the Council's vision - we put people first and deliver sustainable services, to enable a brighter future together.
  2. Ensure that all services are delivered equally and fairly to users and customers in keeping with the Public Sector Equality Duty.
  3. Support positive, inclusive communication across the Council and encourage effective working relationships.
  4. Comply with the Council's constitution, policies and governance arrangements – noting the Financial Regulations and Contract Procurement Rules.
  5. Support the delivery of service objectives, ensuring that it is done within budgets and that the service delivers value for money. 
  6. Make contributions to corporate initiatives and inspections, as required. 
  7. Proactively manage budgets under your control within agreed financial limits to provide value for money in delivering services.
  8. Comply with all relevant legislation to ensure effectiveness in the role.
  9. Treat personal information lawfully and correctly in line with the Council’s Data Protection Statement.
  10. Be aware of and work in accordance with the Council’s safeguarding policies and procedures.
  11. Create and maintain authentic, timely and reliable records in relation to your duties.
  12. Be aware of and work in accordance with health and safety policies and procedures to ensure the health and safety of themselves, staff, visitors, and the general public.
  13. Undertake other duties which may arise or as may be delegated from time to time, commensurate with the skills required for this post.
