Blue Badge Scheme

The Blue Badge disabled parking scheme allows drivers or passengers with a disability to park near to where they need to go.
In North Hertfordshire, Blue Badges are issued through Hertfordshire County Council.

Blue badges can be used in place of a residents or visitor parking permit in areas where a residents parking zone is in force. The blue badge should be clearly displayed showing the expiry date and serial number at all times and the parking disc must also be displayed and must be set to show the time of arrival. Failure to display your blue badge correctly can result in a Penalty Charge Notice.

NHDC car parks enable valid blue badge holders to park free of charge, without a time limit in any bay, except those that are marked for specific use such as electric vehicle charging bays. Many car parks have dedicated blue badge bays for ease of access. Further information including the location of parking and the number of disabled parking spaces available can be found on the ‘Car Parks’ webpage.
