Visiting our offices
There is a level access path to the main entrance of the Council Offices and Customer Service Centre from Gernon Road and the doors open automatically.
Customers who have Blue Badges can park outside the Council Offices in Gernon Road, either in the designated parking bays or on the yellow lines for up to 3 hours.
The Garden Square Multi-Storey Car Park is situated just behind the Council Offices building.
The Customer Service Centre is fitted with hearing induction loops so that customers can use the T-setting on their hearing aid to enhance sound. If required, we can arrange for a British Sign Language interpreter to assist you, as long as you let us know in advance.
If English is not your first language, we can provide interpreters at interviews or over the phone to assist you. We may also be able to assist you with translations of documents and publications.
If you have any questions or need anything else put in place for your visit, please contact us for more information.
Text Relay service
Relay UK is a relay service that enables people with little or no hearing or speech to communicate with hearing people over the phone.
To use this service, simply download the app from the App Store or Google Play Store onto your smartphone, tablet or computer. If you currently have a textphone (Minicom/Uniphone) you can still contact us using Relay UK.
To contact North Herts Council, all you need to do is open the Relay UK app, dial 18001 followed by 01462 474000. You will be connected to a Relay Assistant who will introduce the call and how the service works. The Relay Assistant will type our conversation for you to read in the app. Our Customer Service team have been trained to handle these calls in a professional and efficient manner.
