The way we operate the Customer Service Centre at the Council Offices has changed to suit you and how you're accessing our services. During the pandemic, we moved to an appointment only system to protect our customers and colleagues. Between 31 January - 28 April we are running a trial of opening all day on Tuesdays, and Wednesdays. This trial will allow us to gather more data on the reasons you are visiting us to see what improvements we can make.
Many of our services are available without needing to visit us, so please only visit us or book an appointment if it is essential. If you need to speak to us face to face for any reason not listed below, please contact us in the first instance to discuss how we can help.
Verification of documents
To provide proofs for Benefits, email photos of any supporting documents to benefits@north-herts.gov.uk. Do not send original documents to us.
To provide proofs for Housing, you can send us supporting evidence by:
- uploading your evidence using your Homes4u account. You can sign into your account here.
- emailing scans of your documents to our Pre-assessment team to msuhousingoptions@north-herts.gov.uk
- sending photocopies of your evidence (original documents will not be returned) to the following address:
North Hertfordshire District Council
PO Box 10613
Nottingham
NG6 6DW
If you’re unable to email or post your documents, please contact us and we can discuss the best option for you.
Viewing of microfiche
You can search for recent and historic planning applications using the Planning Application search pages, to see if the application you require is online. This site contains details of planning applications registered from 31/12/1973 to date.
If you cannot locate the file you need, please email decision.notices@north-herts.gov.uk to request the application to be uploaded to our website for you to view.
Foreign pension signing
If you receive a pension from a foreign country, you may need to provide verification to confirm your life and residence in the UK. You need to get the form signed by a 'someone in a recognised profession'. The people who can sign the form are the same as those who can ‘countersign’ a passport photo.
You can book an appointment at the Council offices using our online booking system:
